With all
the current problems with the Euro and the recent Euro crisis meeting lead
by the German Chancellor, a question may reappear in many people's minds. It has in mine and more in mine.
Should we,
the UK, remain in the European Union??
We have
many good reasons to be part of the European Union. A few of these are;
· Trade agreements.
· Military Alliances
· Economic stability (not recently
however)
· Europeans law, keeping all
European countries with a set of Common Laws.
Disadvantages,
· Recently countries in the Eurozone
have requested being bailed out of their economic deficits and the UK has
provided most of the money.
· As the Euro goes down the economic
drain, bankrupt.
This is a problem, and I am not being harsh to those countries, but even though
we are the 2due to links by banks etc. UK sterling depreciates.
These are only a few examples for both advantages and disadvantages, there are many more for each.
Personally, though this could be a narrow minded view, I believe that the UK is being used currently by the EU as a fall-back guy. We're being asked for money to keep countries who haven't been keeping sufficient financial policies from being 3rd highest GDP in Europe (behind France - 2nd and Germany -1st). What many people don't relise is we must sort out our country's finances before
the rest of the world because we cannot help without finance. Therefore I believe we should cut our losses and let Euro countries sort themselves out.
So where do other people stand in
this debate and what are their reasons??
This is a terrible argument, you haven't provided facts or information to back up your weak argument. The only 'fact' provided is regarding our GDP which in fact is smaller than Germany's. Straight away this undermines your argument.
ReplyDeleteAlmost every sentence is poorly written. But fundamentally you are completely wrong. As a Professor of Economics, the worst thing we could do would be to leave the EU. Doing so would severe our already weak trade and export recovery. To do so would leave us isolated and pathetic... as you clearly are.
Left, right GOODNIGHT.
Well my dear professor, I couldn't find any information to tell me otherwise due to it being kept secret for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI understands the points you bring up. I know that my english is poor but i try my best. I am after all english.
As for clearly being pathetic I believe you should as a professor keep your temper in check and teach your understanding to me. Isnt that what being a professor is about. Also its what blogging is about, posting something and dicussing the subject with people of same or different opinions??
I would also not mind knowing where you teach just curious. As a professor, shouldn't you always be willing to talk calmly to people who need help to see the whole picture??
This blog is factually incorrect from the start. Germany is the biggest economy in Europe which isn’t a secret at all so you have therefore just lied plain and simple. You should research the EU and write a proper blog based on facts and figures if you are going to have a go at it. It is either you just being lazy, or irresponsible trying to cause an argument for no reason on a subject which you clearly have no understanding of.
ReplyDeleteI would be very intrigued to know where these secret GDP figures are kept, and why they are kept from us. It's a bloody conspiracy!
ReplyDeleteP.S. you're use of the English language is quite frankly embarrassing, and you should probably attend some form of evening class
This blog has angered me greatly, but I understand your problem with hidden GDP figures. I myself tried to locate these figures and was just hitting brick walls, the US told me that they keep them hidden to protect trade with Easter Island, because of Jesus and that. When I was teaching in Udinese, my economics professor had access to them on his computer but was quickly shut down and he disappeared, I wonder what happened to him? I enjoy reading this blog despite the obvious anger it causes me, but it is better to take my anger out on here and on my computer screen rather than on my wife I suppose.
ReplyDeletePeace, from Valencia, ES
The correction of the GDP has been placed.
ReplyDeleteIf someone could actually tell me where to find the figures, cause I have been looking everywhere, I will then update the blog by adding the facts and figures that I know will be of use to the arguement I suggest.
I am sorry to anger people but i am using the resources I can as a university student but they are still very limited.

ReplyDeleteThank you Anon
ReplyDeleteI wasn't trying to be helpful, I was just highlighting your incompetence.
ReplyDeleteI'd just like to point out to Anonymous who wrote the passage below, that I think you meant "YOUR use of the English language" and not "YOU ARE use of the English Language" as you wrote... Perhaps consider attending the same evening class?
